He has degrees in anthropology and religion, has worked and studied in Sub-Saharan Africa for a total of 15 months, lived in a tiny indigenous village in South America for nearly a year, and has traveled or worked in various other places. Most recently he taught environmental education to 5th- and 6th-graders in the mountains of New Hampshire and Southern California, and led backpacking, canoeing, and other trips with teenagers for three summers.

Colin came to Lost Valley in the fall of 2010, and soon after became the director of education, coordinating permaculture courses, a permaculture internship program, youth programs, and the Holistic Sustainability Semester (which he still runs). He is a core long-term staff member.

In his spare time, Colin likes stimulating conversation, learning about & experiencing different ecosystems and cultures, athletic activity, and hiking up big mountains to see amazing views. He ran for President of the United States in 2016.

Setesh FreeMan — Event Coordinator

Born on the North Carolina coast in 1995 and raised in North Georgia, Setesh has undergone a radical shift in lifestyle and perspective. Setesh grew up being involved multiple days a week in the Southern Baptist church, playing sports and being an average Southern-American suburban kid. However, there was always an inkling towards nature grew that has consistently grown in Setesh’s soul.

Having found himself at the University of Georgia, studying Horticulture & Organic Agriculture 3 years ago, Setesh found a flyer for Lost Valley’s “Holistic Sustainability Semester” in the plant sciences building. Setesh participated in the 3 month PDC & EDE course – attaining the permaculture design & ecovillage design education certifications in August 2016. Setesh has described this time as a “life-altering experience that explored parts of myself that was not known before-hand.” Setesh stayed at Lost Valley, as a resident-staff member until October 2017 and then spent 5.5 months at La’akea Permaculture Community in Pahoa, Hawaii before returning to Lost Valley in Spring 2018.

Outside of Lost Valley Setesh is a coordinator for an Intentional Communities booth at the Oregon Country Fair, works for a traveling sauna/shower-house/healing center at music festivals called “Oasis” and enjoys participating in active sports. Setesh’s interests have grown into DJing Ecstatic Dance, holding workshops on authentic relating & alternative governance structures, humanure composting toilet systems, climbing trees, ancient plant medicines & singing Kirtan.

Misha Fuller — Business Administrator
Businessadmin@lostvalley.org

Misha grew up in Colorado’s Denver area and moved to central California for college. She studied Public Health and earned a bachelors degree in Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety. She has worked and volunteered for a variety of non-profits, ranging from local mountain bike clubs to large regional air quality districts. Board governance, fundraising, grant writing and administration, outreach, and event planning are all relevant pieces of her background. Teaching has also been a passion of hers, including tutoring throughout college, mentoring youth and women, substitute teaching, and outdoor education.

In summer of 2018 Misha joined Lost Valley as a community resident, seeking more connection that what standard suburban life seemed to provide. Soon after becoming a resident, she joined the staff as Bookkeeper. She served the community well in creating effective budgets and providing oversight of financial matters during a period of vacancy for the Business Admin role, which she officially stepped into in October 2019. Her main volunteer effort goes into beautifying the landscaping around the shared community spaces.

In her spare time, Misha enjoys many outdoor activities, including mountain biking, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and running. She loves designing and remodeling living spaces and sewing.

Dima Tsatskin — HIVE & Kitchen Coordinator
HIVE@lostvalley.org

Born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1983, Dima has also lived in Tiraspol, Moldova (Transnistria), Sarasota, FL, and Jackson, MS. After 18 years of enjoying the Florida beach scene, Dima started to crave mountains and forests, which brought him – along with his dog Gandhi – to Oregon (2014), where they were blessed with an opportunity to live in this intentional community.

One of the ways Dima serves the community is as HIVE (Habitat Improvement Volunteer Education) Program Coordinator. Dima finds the HIVE Program to be a progressive model for maintaining community cleanliness and wellbeing. In this model, residents are encouraged to perform certain tasks that fulfill community needs, for which they earn HIVE credit. Dima also helps coordinate our kitchen and is an amazing chef!

Dima enjoys spending most of his time in solitude and taking Gandhi on nature walks, though really values and appreciates the social aspect of living in community.

Sam Bascom — Maintenance Assistant
maintenance@lostvalley.org

Sam has been busy with two main endeavors throughout his adult life – dyeing fabric and natural building. He has created thousands of wearable art garments, specializing in vibrant, colorful geometric and abstract patterns. Dyed fabric requires a knowledge of artistic design and technological methods. Sam has mastered both throughout the decades. He has traveled extensively from California to Maine selling his works at music festivals, craft fairs and through retail outlets. He continues to create fun and exciting wearable art and teaches incoming students the craft. Sam also works in the Building and Maintenance Department at Lost Valley. He has led classes in Natural Building using timbers from the land, mud and straw to construct a few of the newer structures at Lost Valley.

Ashley Shenk — Outreach Coordinator
outreach@lostvalley.org

Ashley first came to Lost Valley when she was 14 years old as a True Colors participant. Fifteen years later in the fall of 2017 she chose to come back as a Holistic Sustainability Semester student… a decision that completely changed her life. Lost Valley has become a home she can return to after her adventures, which are most often to other intentional communities and retreat centers. There is much to learn, experience and share in this world, and she is grateful to have Lost Valley as her anchor and support system while she blossoms and makes connections and roots down more deeply into herself.

Ashley is inspired by moss-covered old-growth forests, singing in song circles, playing with art and music, being a part of women’s circles, practicing yoga and meditation, exploring the world with her partner Rich, expressions of deep vulnerability, and tapping into her wild creative self.

See — Bookkeeper
bkadmin@lostvalley.org

See is currently serving as the Lost Valley Bookkeeper. She hails from Colorado, but has traveled all over the world. She’s spent the last two years in Portland and is now looking to make LV her home. She was drawn to LV because of the opportunity she sees her to live more lightly on the earth and in a more natural environment.

Richard Olson — Site Manager
sitemanager@lostvalley.org

Richard grew up in southern California in the San Bernardino mountains before moving to Arcata to study at Humboldt State University, where he focused on botany courses before deciding to get a degree in Geography. He later received his master’s degree in the Environment and Community program researching and writing about living in two different communities, specifically La’Akea Permaculture Ecovillage in Pahoa, HI and here at Lost Valley. He has stayed at a dozen more in Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia. Richard is highly interested in sustainable practices and alternative energy solutions. He feels excited about the being involved with the process of upgrading Lost Valley’s property to a more ecologically-friendly model, which offers an excellent example for others looking to transition to more sustainable lifestyles and households.

Richard is one of the site manager’s for Lost Valley, handling both facilities management and resident inquiries. He also fixes things, gardens, tends to the forest, and generally is trying to make things more eco-friendly in our community.

Khyla Allis — Garden Manager, Visitor Coordinator
garden@lostvalley.org
visit@lostvalley.org

Khyla moved from her hometown in Reno, Nevada five days after she graduated high school, to the Big Island of Hawaii, where she learned the words “intentional Community” and “permaculture” for the first time. She arrived at Lost Valley in 2016 as a Holistic Sustainability Semester student, going on to receive her permaculture design and ecovillage design education certifications. Khyla continued to live at Lost Valley for a year longer, diving deep into personal/spiritual practice and energy healing, becoming a reiki master and working in depth with other intuitive healers. She then moved back to Hawaii to continue learning and exploring what community means, and began working with the land more once again. She and her partner Richard traveled to Australia and New Zealand researching community and work trading on many lands, learning about the permaculture principles on-the-ground and working with amazing teachers. Khyla is now the garden manager at Lost Valley, her dream come true!

Her vision for the garden this year is to create an educational sanctuary space to hold workshops and classes on different topics for children and adults alike (tree pruning, worms, soil science, compost, farm to table, preservations, edible mushrooms in your garden, etc.) Khyla is inspired to learn and share her knowledge with you! If you want to join our weekly garden work parties or donate to our garden program, please contact Khyla by email.

    • What game is that! That looks EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Fisher_Lenager

I wanna tell you that Bluegill is 3* ok I wont post anymore Bluegill is 1* I think?!?
ok I Have now posted lost valley 2 pics Might help you?

        • In that game, u get stars for the weight of fish, not for the rarity.

          • Thats why? i catch zingel streber sometine 1* and 2* I thought It was the colour but both were same

          • That is not true actually. The stars are the amount of points you have for that fish. say you have 3 stars on a bluegill, that means you have caught it 40 to 59 times, if you have a 1 star, you have caught that fish 1 to 19 times. If you have a 2 star, you’ve caught the fish 20 to 39 times. if you caught a 4 star, you have caught that fish 60 to 79 times. And finally, If you have caught a 5 star fish, it means you have caught it 80 or more times! So say I have caught the “Roach” 57 times, It would be a 3 star for me, but as I continue to catch them, the stars continue to add on. I hope this information helps you guys if you play this game!

        • dude, bluegill is 1* it is just how big it is a 3 star when it is heavy but 1* when it is light i have my own account on that game it is lets fish
